Pursuant to Section 1-14-13.2 NMSA 1978 and 1.10.23.9 NMAC, A Post-Election Voting System Check for the November 7, 2023 Regular Local Election will begin on Monday, December 4, 2023 at 9:00 a.m., in the Colfax County Building Commission Chambers located on the 3rd Floor at 230 North 3rd Street, Raton, NM.

The Automatic Recount per Section 1-14-24(A)(3) NMSA 1978 will be conducted immediately following the Audit.

NOTICE OF VOTER REGISTRATION  

The Voter Registration Books close Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at 5:30 P.M. for the May 30, 2023 South Central Colfax County Special Hospital District All Mail-in Election.  Anyone who is NOT presently registered or needs to update their registration and wishes to vote in this election may register or updated their registration at NMvote.org or at the County Clerk’s Office, Courthouse, Raton, New Mexico.  The office hours are 7:00 A.M. until 5:30 P.M., Monday through Thursday.  You may also register at any Municipal Office. 

AGAIN, IN ORDER TO BE ELIGIBLE TO VOTE IN THE MAY 30, 2023 SOUTH CENTERAL COLFAX COUNTY SPECIAL HOSPITAL DISTRICT ALL MAIL-IN ELECTION YOU MUST BE REGISTERED BY  MAY 2, 2023.

REGULAR LOCAL ELECTION PROCLAMATION

COLFAX COUNTY, NEW MEXICO
ELECTION PROCLAMATION AND RESOLUTION

Pursuant to the Regular Local Election Act, NMSA 1978, Sections 1-22-2 to 1-22-19 (as amended), I, Rayetta M. Trujillo, Colfax County Clerk, by virtue of the authority vested in me, do hereby issue the following proclamation:
That a Regular Local Election is called to be held throughout the State of New Mexico and in each county and precinct thereof on November 7, 2023; and

That a Regular Local Election shall be a nonpartisan election, and the names of all candidates shall be listed on the ballot with no party or slate designation; and That a Regular Local Election shall be held to elect qualified persons to membership on a local governing body and, where applicable, to elect municipal officers for the following offices:

Absentee Voting

Absentee voting (by mail) for all county and state elections may be done by requesting an Absentee Ballot Application (pdf) from the Bureau of Elections. Complete and return the application to the Bureau of Elections and a ballot will be mailed. The time to apply for an absentee ballot varies from election to election, but it is generally 28 days prior to a Primary, General or Local Election. Contact the Bureau of Elections for further details. You may also fill out a request online at Online Absentee Request.

Early In-Person Voting

In-person voting is done at the Colfax County Building, Clerks Office, It begins 28 days prior to a Primary, General or Local Election and ends the Saturday before the election. It is held during regular business hours Monday through Thursday.

Same Day Registration is available at the County Clerk's office beginning 28 days prior to an election, as well as all early voting sites within the County.  Voter must have a Colfax County residential address in order to register.  Be prepared to show a picture ID, as well as proof of residency such as a utility statement, bank statement, etc.

Early voting at an alternate voting site is available for Primary and General elections. 
Please be advised there will not be Same Day Registration at the Mobile Voting sites is not available for the 2022 General Election. 

The hours of Early Voting are Monday through Saturday, 10am-4pm.
